Hello everyone !

I really hope you like cheese. Because this post will be all about cheese !

I’m sure you have seen this video on Facebook :

Of course there are a lot of videos like this one on Facebook. Beautiful or interesting places…. But did you ever tried to go to one of these places ?
As I had seen this video several times, and as I planned to go to London, I decided to go.

The Cheese Bar, a tribute to British cheese

Usually when you talk about British food, people are like « eww, British food is the worst ». I don’t even know why. It’s just bad rumors. I guess I have to talk to you about my love for bangers and mash and pies.
And when it comes to cheese, better not talk about it… In popular imagination British cheese is limited to cheddar. And well, not even the real one, but the thing that looks more like plastic in fast food hamburgers.

Forget all of this.

Where is it ?

To go to the Cheese Bar, it’s very easy. Take the Northern Line to Camden Town !

Camden Town is a London district I really like, since the first time I visited it about 16 years ago when I was 14. So I appreciated the fact that this restaurant was there. This district is well known and loved for their numerous alternative, vintage shops, and also a lot of small businesses and uncommon restaurants.

Not really surprising that the Cheese Bar is located in the famous Camden Stables.

The address :

The Cheese Bar
Unit 93, 94 Camden Stables, Camden Town, London NW1 8AP

Well, to make everything easy, The Cheese Bar is just next to the Amy Winehouse statue.

If I can give you some advice about what the best time to go there is, I’d say you should go between 1 ans 2pm, to avoid rush hours and appreciate the place better. It is quite small, so it can be full very quickly.

First thing you will see when you come in, is this awesome list of their cheeses !

What can we eat there ?

This is the question everyone asks of course. Because eating is why we go there, right ?

There is a menu example on their site, but it is precised that it is only an example, because their menu changes quite often, and can even change througout the day.

Of course I don’t have to precise that everything includes cheese.

What did we order ?

Second obvious question.
We chose a starter first : A truffled Baron Bigod brie with pickled raisins and charcoal crackers.

Then for the plates :
A poutine with different cheeses
A Rosary Goat’s cheese grilled sandwich with honey, walnut and homemade pickle.

And the dessert :
Goat’s cheese and honey ice cream with pistachio brittle.

The products are really high quality and the plates are delicious. If you’re a cheese lover and you like to discover new tastes, you must go to the Cheese Bar !

Prices are reasonable, but it’s not cheap. Restaurants in London are quite expensive compared to other countries, but to be honest I thought it would be more expensive. Plates are about £8 and desserts about £5.

Let’s come back to the dessert actually, because I’m sure you’re intrigued by it. A goats cheese ice cream, must be weird.
Well for those who know me, you know that I’m not an ice cream fan at all.
The name can be scary, but don’t worry, it is not a frozen goat cheese bar o(≧∇≦o)
The taste is kinda surprising, but it is delicious. It was way lighter than a classic ice cream, which is why I don’t like it.

The Cheese Bar was really a great experience, and I strongly recommend it to any cheese lover if you’re in London !
