Hello everyone !
I dreamt of it since a long while, and on June 30th this year they released it :
A remake of the first Crash Bandicoot trilogy !
I have to admit that I was scared. I was dreaming of a remake that was exactly like the original, without modifications. A lot of people were skeptical and said that I will be hightly disappointed because I was expecting too much.
So I ignored everything and just went on preordering it.
Today I have finished them, so I wanted to talk about this on the blog, because I am really impressed !
This trilogy is a masterpiece brought to you by Vicarious Visions (the ones who made Crash Nitro Kart)
You’re already in the mood when you see the intro video.
On the graphic side, the 3 games are magnificent. Characters and level designs are wonderful.
It’s funny because I’m impressed the same way than when I got the original in 1996.
« Impressive 3D environments » they said. Now it’s worth to say it. Everything is beautifully detailed.
I decided to play the 3 games one after the other.
When starting the first one, I was already super happy because it was identical to the original, with a few new things, but nothing that makes the game different.
By the way I was wondering what the saving system was like, because the original one really sucked.
There are still the character stickers to find to access bonus levels, but you have access to saving anytime on the islands map.
They added relic quests to the first opus, which is kinda great because it makes the game longer.
And another nice thing, for the 3 games, it’s possible to play almost all the levels with Coco !
I really like this character, and the fact we can play her and choose between Crash or her is very nice.
By the way for some levels I can pass them more easily with Coco, I don’t know maybe the shape of the character.
For the moment I just finished the basic quest of the three games, but I don’t have all the gems and relics yet. I’m sure there are a lot of new secrets to discover.
I was still playing the original ones a lot recently, so I’m really happy of this remake.
I’m repeating myself, but the games are exactly like the originals, and have not been distorted, but made even better.
I still hate levels like Road to Nowhere…
Crash Bandicoot is an emblematic character of my childhood, and I’m still a huge fan of him, so I think it’s really great to see him improved, and that the new generations can discover him thanks to this.
For the moment I didn’t found any negative point, except maybe the voice in the intro which is super annoying (and you can’t skip it) but it’s a detail.
Each time I enter a new level I’m impatient to see all the details and hear the music.
By the way let’s talk about the music. I always loved them, and the new versions are great, same but improved in quality and with new high definition sounds.
Talking about the gameplay, it’s identical to the old ones, and feeling is exactly the same, no sensation of heaviness or slowing down, jumps are precise.
It is a very important aspect in Crash Bandicoot, as most of the jumps have to be very precise in order not to fall in the last hole just before the end of the level.
Because even if Crash’s deaths are quite funny, it’s still annoying when you die all the time.
Particularly in the first one, which is kinda difficult (compared to the 2 and 3).
I have always been a fan of Crash since the beginning, so I could not choose only one of the three games from the remake.
When it comes to the old ones, I prefer the 2 and 3 because there is more stuff to do, but the new version of the 1 is simply awesome. It’s impossible to choose.
I guess it’s a bit the same for everyone, so maybe this is why they chose to make a 3 in 1 game ?
If you still hesitate, I strongly recommend you this game, it’s a great success ! The pleasure of playing it is the same as the original.
If you played the old ones, you will find the same fun, and if you never played them, it’s a great occasion to discover the swirling marsupial !
Now we want a remake of the first Playstation trilogy of Spyro The Dragon !
And as my blog is still a fashion blog, here is the outfit of the day inspired by Coco Bandicoot.
